Poetry & Meditation
Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur Reimagined
Return home. Return to your center.
Join Rabbi Jill and Rabbi Francine Roston online for two non-traditional High Holy Day gatherings. This year, we turn to poetry as our guide — wonderful poems that help us center ourselves, held together by meaningful texts and quiet meditation between each one.
After all we have carried this year, this season is offered as a place to rest and heal — restorative, soulful, and warm. Each gathering leaves room to breathe, to feel, and to be held — from wherever you are in the world.
Everyone who registers will receive both recordings, so you’re welcome to join us live or settle in with them later.

High Holy Days of the Heart: Warmth, Welcome, Belonging & Community
You are invited into a soul-filled online High Holy Day experience— we meet live online so you can join from wherever you are.
After a year that has asked so much of us, we need a gentle way in — wisdom, comfort, and space to simply be. Together we will hear wonderful poetry, sit with meaningful texts, and meditate between poems, letting each one settle before we move to the next.
Join Rabbi Jill Zimmerman & Rabbi Francine Roston for three hours of poetry and meditation, offered across two gatherings.

Saturday, September 12
Opening To Your New Year: Poetry and Meditation for Rosh Hashanah
Led by Rabbi Jill & Rabbi Francine
9:00 – 10:30 am PT / 12:00 – 1:30 pm ET
Theme: New Creation & Rebirth. On Rosh Hashanah, a new world is born. Our theme this year is anchored by Arundhati Roy’s words, “Another world is not only possible, she is on her way,” as woven into Aly Halpert’s song “She’s On Her Way.” We will explore poetry of new beginnings and starting over — of the old dying so the new can be born. Our meditations will help us settle into this new year and ask: what do we hope to create — within ourselves, in the world, and in our community?
Saturday, September 21
Nurturing Forgiveness: Poetry and Meditation for Yom Kippur
Led by Rabbi Jill & Rabbi Francine
9:00 – 10:30 am PT / 12:00 – 1:30 pm ET
Theme: Forgiveness. On Yom Kippur, we turn toward forgiveness, held through three meditations: forgiving ourselves, forgiving others, and receiving forgiveness — reflecting Judaism’s distinct understanding that some repair happens between us and each other, and some between us and the Divine. We will draw on the poetry of Alicia Ostriker, Mary Oliver, Yehuda Amichai, and Marge Piercy to sit with release, repair, and return.
