A 4 session “virtual” telecourse* that you can take in any time zone and at your convenience!
August 20, 27 & September 3, 10 Thursday evenings
Each year, we begin again. We journey back to our Source, our selves, our souls. The high holy day period is one in which we turn ourselves around.
We remember who we are.
Each year, we have the opportunity to dip into the most profound stories of our people – from exile to return, from brokenness to wholeness, from separation to unity.
Like salmon swimming upstream, we are moved by an invisible force beckoning us to reflect, to make amends, and to re-commit to our soul’s highest purpose.
The promise of this season is nothing less than transformation. The only catch is that we each need to do our own work. Whether you attend synagogue services or not, whether you find the rabbi’s sermons powerful or the cantor and choir’s music uplifting — the High Holy Days only “work” in the deepest sense if we do our own soul “work.”
This 4 session course offers a map to the territory of this journey. You will learn how all the elements and metaphors fits together. Each session includes a core story from the Jewish tradition that illuminates the path and mindfulness practices to deepen the experience and meaningful discussion. We will draw on ancient texts as well as modern poetry and song.
Everyone is welcome: the community we create together will be one of compassion, listening and openness.
Come join us on this journey.

Our Guide for this Journey:
Rabbi Jill Berkson Zimmerman, M.Ed. is a visionary with a plan. She founded The Jewish Mindfulness Network (JMN) to create a variety of welcoming experiences and environments that enable people to discover personal meaning from the depths of Jewish texts, mindfulness practices, and through community. She is dedicated to a Judaism that matters, a Judaism based in mindfulness. She was ordained from Hebrew Union College, and becoming a rabbi is a “second career” for her. She is a graduate of the Institute for Jewish Spirituality’s Clergy Leadership program and also has a certificate in Jewish Meditation. Teaching spiritual material is a core purpose of Rabbi Jill’s life. You will be touched by her enthusiasm and deep reflections. One of her “high skills” is making complicated Jewish texts and metaphors come to life in everyday language. She has been married to Ely for 35 years and they have two grown sons.
